Starting off their game on Saturday, expectations were high for the Gulls, with it being family weekend as well as another home game in front of anxious Salisbury fans.
However, the anticipation was greeted with a disappointing conclusion, as the Sydney-Hampden Tigers marched into Salisbury and defeated the Sea Gulls 32-28.
The Gulls’ performance against Husson University last week revealed 672 yards of total offense, 27 first downs and 11 offensive touchdowns in a matchup the Gulls won 84-7....

This week our Tigers travel to Salisbury, MD to play the Seagulls of Salisbury State University.  The Seagulls have a 3 - 0 record.  They have won the 3 games by a whopping margin of - get this 155 to 24!  In cluding an 84 to 7 win this past weekend against Husson (See Article below from Salisbury's website).  We have a common opponent in NC Wesleyan.  The Seagulls defeated Wesleyan 13 to 7.

The statistic 36-0 hangs in the locker room at Hampden-Sydney (2-0). Why? Because the Tigers have been outscored 36-0 in the fourth quarter this season.
In their first game against Averett, the second string didn't perform as well as the starters. Hampden-Sydney held a 45-7 lead going into the fourth quarter and finished with a 45-30 win.

In the second game, against N.C. Wesleyan, however, H-SC almost lost its 21-6 lead but escaped with a 21-19 win...

AD Bush Set to Retire

Joe Bush, who has served as Hampden-Sydney College's athletic director for the past 18 years, has announced he will retire at the end of the fall semester.  Bush cited "family issues" as his reason for retirement.
"It seemed like the right time," Bush said.  He considered retiring over the summer, but decided to stay for the remainder of the semester to ease the school's search for his replacement...

The second quarter proved to be a killer for the Sewanee football team today. After holding the Tigers of Hampden-Sydney College to just three points in the first stanza, Sewanee gave up four touchdowns in the second period as Hampden-Sydney went up 31-0 and never looked back. Hampden-Sydney would add one more touchdown in the third quarter to make it 38-0, a score that would stand until the final buzzer.
