HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Marcus Mayo and Dominique Lesine each scored a rushing touchdown for the Panthers, but Ferrum College fell 38-14 to Hampden-Sydney College in non-conference football action this afternoon on the road.


QB Travis Lane went 25-42 passing for 362 yards with a pair of TDs and two interceptions for Hampden-Sydney. Mayo was 13-28 passing for 232 yards with no TDs, and was picked off twice.

Mayo was Ferrum's leading rusher as well, gaining 62 yards on 13 carries. Marcco McNeal and Josh Oliver each had an interception for Ferrum (0-2). Shreve Rohl and Zach Morgan each had a pick for the Tigers (3-0), who led 24-7 at halftime.

Oliver, Tae Motley, Melvin Trotter, Tremaine Whitney and Chris Freycinet each had seven tackles for Ferrum. Freycinet recorded Ferrum's lone sack, good for a seven-yard loss.

Ferrum (0-2) will play its home-opener next Saturday, Sept. 24, against non-conference opponent Bridgewater College. The game coincides with Ferrum's Homecoming and Hall of Fame Weekend. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. at W.B. Adams Stadium.
