Former HSC Assistant Named Lacrosse Coach at Oswego State

The Oswego State Athletic Department announced today that Ryan Martin has been named the head men's lacrosse coach at Oswego. Martin joins the Lakers after having served as the assistant coach at Nazareth College for the past four seasons.   The Amherst, Mass. native served as defensive and recruiting coordinator for the Golden Flyers as well as film co
ordinator. His efforts helped Nazareth capture the Empire 8 Championship and rceive trips to the NCAA Division III Tournament in 2007 and 2009 and an ECAC Championship in 2008. In four seasons with the Golden Flyers, Martin has worked with eight USILA All-Americans, two Empire 8 Conference Players of the Year, and four USILA Scholar All-Americans. Please Welcome Bryan Talbert to the "Futbol" Team.

The Virginia Legacy Soccer Club announced this week that York High's Bryan Talbert and Poquoson's Stephanie Marshall won the organization's 2010 David Pickeral Scholarships. They will each receive $500 scholarships.  Talbert, a midfielder who earned first-team Daily Press All-Stars honors this season, was a member of the math, Latin and National honor societies. He will play next season at Hampden-Sydney College

Marshall's activities included SCA, as well as the National and math honor societies. She will play next season at Ferrum.  "They're both outstanding kids, and this goes to show their hard work off the field paid off as well as their hard work on the field," Legacy director Bobby O'Brien said.

On the night LeBron James decided he will spend the next four years in Miami on the one-hour ESPN broadcast called "Decision," many of the Colonial Heights Post 284 have secured their plans for the next four years.  And the list is quite impressive.  The Pirates even have one player, Connor Kauffman, who will play in the Ivy League at Cornell. 60 Days Until Kickoff!

Today marks the 60th day until kickoff.  Things will move quickly from here.  There are only 5 more weekends until the Tigers report for practice.  In between, there is a football camp, an optional team cookout, and last minute getaways

Hampden Sydney Football Camp


Coach Marty Favret and his staff will be hosting the Hampden Sydney Instructional Football Camp on July 11th through the 14th.  The camp is for football players between the ages of 9 and 17.  If you would like more information about the camp be sure click here - HSC Football Camp.

70 Days 'til Kickoff!

Today marks the 70th day until kickoff and the 48th day until practice starts.  The Tigers' current players, new players and coaches are eagerly awaiting the season. The heat of June will have undoubtably helped the players as they prepared for the dog days of summer.  As the season approaches keep in mind the following quote from a legendary coach:

39 NEW FACES TO JOIN 2010 FOOTBALL SQUADRecruiting list for upcoming football season released
Hampden-Sydney head football coach Marty Favret has released the list of 39 incoming freshmen set to report to for the 2010 season. The new faces will join the bulk of last year's team to try and defend the Tigers' 2009 undefeated ODAC Championship season. In order to comply with NCAA rules, the list of recruits includes only those student-athletes who have made deposits on tuition and are set to report in August for football camp and classes.  The list includes players from six states, including North Carolina, Texas, Maryland, South Carolina and Georgia, while 26 players are in-state recruits.
