HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA (09/08/2010)(readMedia)-- At Opening Convocation on Thursday, August 26, John Robert Chambers, a sophomore at Hampden-Sydney College, received the Omicron Delta Kappa
Award. The ODK Award was established in 1974 to mark the 50th
anniversary of the Lambda Circle and has been endowed by generous
contributions from ODK alumni. This scholarship is awarded annually to
a member of the sophomore class who demonstrated real leadership in
their freshman year....
John served on the Student Senate during his freshman year and was
elected to serve again as a sophomore. He plays offense on the varsity
football team, is a Dean's List student, and is a member of the social
fraternity Sigma Alpha Epsilon. John is a graduate of Saint
Anne's-Belfield in Charlottesville, VA, and is the son of Judy &
Martin Chambers of Centennial.
A private college for men, Hampden-Sydney is ranked in the top tier
of liberal arts colleges by U.S. News & World Report. The College
is known for its liberal arts curriculum, the Honor Code which stresses
individual and collective responsibility, and a focus on the needs of
young men.
