70 Days 'til Kickoff!

Today marks the 70th day until kickoff and the 48th day until practice starts.  The Tigers' current players, new players and coaches are eagerly awaiting the season. The heat of June will have undoubtably helped the players as they prepared for the dog days of summer.  As the season approaches keep in mind the following quote from a legendary coach:

"There's no substitute for guts.”-- Paul "Bear" Bryant

Below is the article from www.hsc.edu/athletics announcing all of the incoming Tigers and class of 2014!

39 NEW FACES TO JOIN 2010 FOOTBALL SQUADRecruiting list for upcoming football season released
Hampden-Sydney head football coach Marty Favret has released the list of 39 incoming freshmen set to report to for the 2010 season. The new faces will join the bulk of last year's team to try and defend the Tigers' 2009 undefeated ODAC Championship season. In order to comply with NCAA rules, the list of recruits includes only those student-athletes who have made deposits on tuition and are set to report in August for football camp and classes.  The list includes players from six states, including North Carolina, Texas, Maryland, South Carolina and Georgia, while 26 players are in-state recruits.
"We’re thrilled about the football class of 2014," said Favret. "We feel we’ve improved ourselves on both sides of the ball with some size and a host of playmakers. Though we have an experienced group returning ...

A Different Look at Everett Stadium

I found this very cool computer generated view of Hampden Sydney's Everett Stadium on Youtube, com.  It was created by Senior offensive lineman Clay Parker

According to the information Clay added to YouTube this was his Computer Science 480 semester project. He created a 3D model of Hampden-Sydney's Everett Stadium, home of the Hampden-Sydney Tigers, along with other objects that go with the football field with the 3D modeling program, Milkshape. He also used the game engine OGRE to create the application itself.

Very cool Clay!

90 Days to Kickoff!

Today is exacttly 90 days until kickoff!  Right now the Hampden Sydney Tiger players are working hard in the weightroom as well as running everyday.  The team is certainly enjoying their time away from school, but they are also keeping focused on the fact the season is right around the corner.  The newest Tigers have either just graduated or will graduate this week.  The incoming freshmen will have a short summer before official workouts start on August 12th.
